THE DRAMATIC STORY OF GUS

GusGus was born 8 years ago and always lived in the same house; without any complaints he lived his days. 3 years ago his beloved owner went bankrupt and has since lost his house to the bank.

Since then, he only eats leftovers that the neighbors leave once a month and the crusts of stale bread from his owner. Thankfully, that same neighbor contacted one of the volunteers atEvolucion who then went to find Gus-- There he was, alone, injured, sick, in pain, starving and without hope to go on living.

How can this story not make you cry with compassion, make you sad, or angry, or feel impotent and helpless?

The black spots that you see in the photos are very old ticks that are like balls. He's limp in one leg from getting hit with stones from a person in town that complains of his "filthy/disgusting/revolting presence". Such a person that is just waiting to shoot him....Because of them, the kind neighbor called us in fear of the worst.

Gus Aside from all that he has been through, he is noble, does not try to bite and is only afraid of people at the moment -- too many years alone, with out love, a soft touch or a nice word... only surrounded by hostility.

Anyone that hears his story finds it hard to believe how someone could leave a living thing in those kinds of conditions. Such cruelty should be punished.

Now, Gus is recuperating little by little, losing his fear in people and beginning to learn that life can be more than hunger and hopelessness in a dirty hole, that there are people ready to help him, love him and make him feel happy-- maybe for the first time in his life....

Do you want to be the person to give him this opportunity?

Thanks to Silvia, Lara, Javi, Gracia, Raquel and Mamen... With your efforts, dedication and love, you have made it possible for Gus to have this new opportunity…

GUS HAPPY ENDING

Finally Gus could fly to Amsterdam from Madrid last wednesday 30th september. He finally could meet her new mum Maria, who has waited such a long time to have him at home. From Holland we just have received these lovely pictures, far away from the life of misery he has lived for so many years.

Thanks so much to Gus´s foster mums: rosanna and Mamen , to Maria Sastre, the person who took a flight to Amsterdam in order to take him to her adoptant. Thanks to GRH, the dutch organization and specially to Maria, to her adoptant.
